The 7.9 magnitude earthquake that rocked Nepal, felt high into the Himalayas, did most most of its damage in the capital city of Kathmandu.
CNN released a drone video that shows the far-reaching devastation from 100-200 feet off the ground, and the images are stunning. The city has seen thousands of casualties as a result of crumbling buildings, sliding land, and hysteria.
Meanwhile, up high, a severe avalanche swept through basecamp at Mt. Everest, cutting off the low camps from climbers up high at Camp 2 and up. With 18 immediate casualties, the situation is expected to worsen as climbers as high up as the “death zone” wait it out for help. There’s also reports that bad weather is headed towards the world’s summit.
