Founded in 1995, Aerosonde Pty Ltd designs, manufactures and services a range of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) of the same name. Based in Melbourne, Australia, the company’s employees are experienced in all facets of unmanned aviation — providing a single resource for customers seeking either systems or operational services.
With superior endurance, flexibility and economy of operation, our Aerosonde®aircraft is ideal for military, civil and scientific missions. It has been employed for customers around the world including NASA, the U.S. Office of Naval Research, Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Organization, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. military and numerous academic institutions.
Our skilled staff of aircraft operators have more than 12 years of experience conducting flight operations, accumulating more than 6,000 flight hours on behalf of our customers. Aerosonde and its aircraft operators have received airworthiness certification by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority, the first certification program of its kind in the world. Aerosonde also has received numerous certificates of authorization (COAs) and waivers. We currently have two active COAs in the United States that enable the Aerosonde aircraft to fly in national air space.
Working through the larger AAI enterprise, Aerosonde offers dedicated operations, production, maintenance and development teams to provide customers tailored UAS solutions that maximize the value of their systems.
Aerosonde became a strategic business of AAI Corporation in 2006. Headquartered in the United States, AAI’s high-technology products and services include unmanned aircraft systems and ground control technologies; high-fidelity training and simulation systems; automated aerospace test and maintenance equipment; armament systems; and logistical, engineering, supply chain and operational support services. AAI is an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company.
